In the Caribbean island's town of Soufriere he rustled up the courage to get stuck into some of the local produce, taking a drink from a green coconut.

Earlier he showed off his bowling skills in when he pitched a delivery at Darren Sammy, the former West Indies Twenty20 captain.

Harry, who is on a 15-day tour of the Caribbean, met with the former West Indian cricket captain before an exhibition match at the stadium which is named after Sammy.

The prince was treated to the traditional sights and sounds of the market complete with live music and traditional food and drink.

Harry approached the island by boat, with the iconic Pitons mountains seen in the distance

When the prince was asked to choose a basket of fruit, instead of opting for exotic offerings, he chose a bunch of bananas.

Harry continued working his way round the crowd, talking to children as he went and giving high fives along the way.

Teenage girls started fanning themselves with one falling to her knees in excitement.

The centre of the town was full of local residents and schoolchildren eager to catch a glimpse of the royal visitor.
