The opposition coalition of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the Alliance For Change (AFC) has agreed to a symbol for the May 11, 2015 general and regional elections.
Sources said that the symbol, obtained exclusively by Demerara Waves Online News, was agreed to by both sides last week and would be unveiled at Wednesday's launch of the APNU-AFC campaign at the Pegasus Hotel.
The symbol includes a merger of both parties' symbols into one, in keeping with a committment by coalition co-campaign manager, Raphael Trotman that both symbols would be prominent. According to the 'Cummingsburg Accord', the two parties have agreed to preserve their identities as far as practicable.
The symbol now has to be presented to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) for its stamp of approval and subsequent inclusion in the template for ballot papers.
