The first Suriname International Mining, Energy & Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (SURIMEP 2014) will take place from 17th to 19th June 2014. The main theme of the event is “Utilising Suriname’s natural resources to underpin a sustainable economy”.

This event is organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Suriname in association with AME Trade Ltd. SURIMEP 2014 is a turnkey event focusing on Suriname’s mining, energy and petroleum Industries, their potential and their sustainable development. SURIMEP will feature three days of conference sessions, a trade exhibition, round table discussions, seminars as well as touristic trips and technical site visits.

Suriname is a country with extensive natural resources such as bauxite, gold, oil, building minerals, cultivated land, affordable energy, fresh water and a large tropical rainforest. Recently, the Surinamese government has invested heavily in infrastructural development, resulting in the rehabilitation and expansion of the (sea) port and the renovation and expansion of the international airport.
